2017 State Shooting Sports Championships

This year the 2017 Washington State Shooting Sports Championships are being held around the state!  We are still following the National 4-H shooting sports model with positive youth development approaches. Each discipline is being held at a different time and location this eliminates the restriction of selecting only one discipline for entry. We still expect counties to send members that demonstrate safe practice and the ability to hit targets at the posted limits. If you have a member that can’t decide between archery and air pistol. You are welcome to send them to both events if they are safe and can qualify. Senior members who rank in the top 4 of more than one discipline will select a discipline to compete at Nationals.

Additional changes this year will be to the Washington State 4-H shooting sports team representing us in Grand Island Nebraska, June 25 – 30 2017. Members who qualify at this year’s state championships may choose to go this year or wait to go in 2018 provided they do not age out of the 4-H program. Washington State 4-H does not have funds to support registration to national events. This gives club members time to raise funds for the trip and work with the discipline’s appointed leader coach.
