Dr. Chris Blodgett to present on ACEs plenary panel “Moving from Adversity to Awesome: Uncovering Childhood Trauma”

Dr. Chris Blodgett, Director of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC-now the Child and Family Research Unit) spoke at the 2015 National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence which took place March 19-21 in Washington, DC with over 1,000 attendees and 300+ speakers.  In attendance were the nation’s leading medical, public health, and domestic violence experts from across the U.S. and the world. The biennial conference highlights the latest research and promising practices to advance the health care system’s response to domestic and sexual violence.

Dr. Blodgett presented on the “Moving from Adversity to Awesome: Uncovering Childhood Trauma” plenary panel where he addresses ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) research which highlights both the tremendous prevalence of early exposure to adversity and its link to poor health in adulthood, as well as poor educational outcomes.
