Washington State Awards

We offer three different 4-H Scholarships through the Washington State 4-H Program. Please refer to specific information and application process at http://4h.wsu.edu/members/scholar.htm .

1.  CAHNRS scholarships for those attending WSU and majoring in CAHNRS areas

Washington State University, College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences State 4-H Scholarship (received by January 31 at WSU):

  • Dean’s Merit Scholarship $3,000
  • Two @ $1,500.00 for Leadership
  • Two @ $1,500.00 for Citizenship/Community Service

2.   Washington State 4-H Scholarships (postmarked by March 1 to State 4-H Scholarship Committee, WSUE Spokane, PO Box 1495, SSCF #211, Spokane, WA 99210):

  • J. Orville Young Memorial Scholarship — One @ $500
  • Lewis County 4-H Leaders Scholarships — Five @ $500
  • O.M. Plummer Memorial Scholarship — One @ approximately $550
  • Washington State 4-H Foundation Scholarship — One @ $500

3.   4-H Dairy Endowment Scholarship (only available for those who have been dairy members).Washington State 4-H Foundation Dairy Endowment Scholarship is a separate application from those above.  For information and application go to: http://4h.wsu.edu/foundation/dairyendowment/DE-Scholarship.pdf

  • Two @ $500 (must be/have been a 4-H Dairy member)–one for a HS Senior and one for a current college student).

Shooting Sports Scholarship

Daisy, in conjunction with National 4-H Shooting Sports, offers scholarships of $500 which will be awarded at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational, June 23- 28, 2013 in Grand Island Nebraska. In 2012, Daisy awarded two $500 scholarships. The qualifications for scholarship consideration include:

Minimum of a 3.0 GPA from your high school

  1. Three years participation in 4-H shooting sports
  2. Recommendation of High School counselor or principal
  3. Recommendation of 4-H coach or equivalent who is not a relative
  4. Scholarship would be payable to any two-year or four-year accredited Jr. College, College or University
  5. Applicant required to submit personal Resume
  6. Application would require a 250 – 500 word essay about “How participation in the 4-H Shooting Sports better prepared them for college and for life.”
  7. Certified copy of high school transcript.
  8. Scholarship money would be available in the second semester of the freshman year and can be used for books, housing, and or college fees.

Future Ag. Students Scholarship

High school and two-year college students are invited to apply for a $1,000 scholarship from the CHS Foundation, the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative.

  • Two year college students: 25 – $1,000 scholarships are available for first-year students studying an agricultural-related major at any two-year college.
  • High school students: 50 – $1,000 scholarships are available for seniors pursuing an ag-related major at any two-year or four-year college.
  • University students: 150 scholarships are available to students working towards an ag-related major at 30 universities across the nation (including WSU). Click here for a list of participating universities.
