What We Do
4-H Challenge utilizes several different types of activities. Although each of these activities takes a different shape and some focus on different immediate goals, all activities are built on the Challenge model and work to develop life skills. Some participants will find these activities mentally challenging, others emotionally challenging, and a few, physically challenging. Regardless of the challenge, each activity presents everyone with an opportunity for learning and growth.
Portable Challenge
The 4-H Portable Challenge program represents the most basic form of the 4-H Challenge model. With a relative small collection of assorted props, a trained facilitator has an endless array of games, activities and initiatives designed to teach life skills. Because of the limited amount of equipment needed for most portable activities, the program can be taken into almost any setting: classrooms, gyms, hallways, meeting rooms, church parking lots, retreat centers, indoors, outdoors, and just about anywhere else a group might meet.
Low Challenge Course
Built in the woods just outside of town, our Low Challenge Course incorporates several specially designed physical activities. Constructed out of logs, cables and lumber, these activities range from a few inches to several feet off the ground. Some activities require swinging on a rope; others require balancing on a log. Regardless of its physical nature, each activity requires the group to develop a safe way to get all of their members successfully through the activities. Because of its location in a natural setting and separation from participants normal environment, these activities create a heightened sense of adventure and a greater physical challenge then most Portable activities. With over 10 different activities we will create a program to best reach your groups goals.
High Challenge Course
Our High Challenge Course moves away from focusing on group dynamics and interpersonal relationships and becomes more individualistic in nature. Participants use safety gear, similar to that used in rock climbing. We offer 2 stand-alone high course elements. All of our challenge leaders receive specialized training from qualified Washington State University trainers, ensuring the highest level of safety for each participant.
