Tim Lawrence is the new Island County Extension Director, moving in May 2010 from Pullman after seven months as a Research Associate in WSU’s Honey Bee Health Program. In addition to expertise with honey bees (based largely on working 20 years as a commercial beekeeper), Tim is knowledgeable in water quality, storm water, ecological restoration, and small-scale agriculture issues. After more than 18 years of experience on Extension community development and natural resource projects, his primary area of interest is in implementing environmental programs with multi-jurisdictional collaboration.
Tim’s extensive work background is complemented with a PhD in environmental science and an MS in agricultural economics and rural sociology at the Ohio State University, and a BS in agriculture and pomology at the University of California, Davis.
Walking with his Golden Retriever and pursuing a private pilot’s license make up much of Tim’s extracurricular routine.
