Rural and urban, large and small, Washington’s communities are what make our state distinct and successful. Located in every county in the state, Washington State University Extension educators work with local leaders to help communities from Asotin to Aberdeen, from Colville to Kelso, survive and thrive.

Leveraging state and federal dollars with grants, WSU Extension programs help communities develop the infrastructure and amenities they need to remain economically viable and to improve the quality of life for local residents.

Programs such as WSU Extension Horizons and WSU Rural Bridges help residents identify their community’s specific needs and opportunities and how best to fulfill those needs and opportunities. Whether it’s by educating entrepreneurs or bolstering the leadership skills of local officials, WSU Extension brings research-based expertise tailored for local relevance to deliver results that matter.
