Cedar in the winter woodsIf you love native plants, you won’t want to miss the December 3rd workshop – Identifying Woody Plants in Winter. This is an easy walking tour, but dress for the weather.

The workshop will be held at Lake Sylvia State Park, where we will meet at the kitchen for a short walk and talk about the native woody plants seen along the way. The walk will be led by newly certified Master Gardener John Kugen and intern Don Barton, both seasoned, career woodsmen. They will share their knowledge about the native trees and shrubs, along with specific identification cues.

Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia State Parks (FOSLS) will join the Master Gardeners to sponsor this winter workshop and promote the enjoyment of our State Parks in every season. Refreshments will follow in the kitchen around noon.

Please come dressed and prepared for the weather. This is a free event and open to the public.

After the workshop there will be a half-hour plant clinic. If you have a question, please bring samples about problems or pests in your garden, if you have them.
