4-H Clover Report

September 19th, 2017

Dear 4-H Members,

SEEKING A 4-H SUPERSTAR: Seeking a couple of 4-H members to help represent our program at the September 26th Commissioners meeting; we need 20 minutes of your time max and some really great smiles for pictures!  The Commissioners will be signing a proclamation to recognize National 4-H Week here in Skamania. 

Dates to know!

  • September 23rdClovers and Cougs Football Tailgate Event 4-H is being featured as WSU takes on University of Nevada – Reno. Come show your 4-H and Cougar pride by participating in the pre-game events. Booths will be set up to highlight some of the amazing things 4-H youth are doing in their communities. There will be FREE ice cream and WSU & 4-H Swag given out at the event!
  • September 29th – Oct. 1stAdult Horse Camp Goldendale, WA.
  • October 1st – NEW 4-H Year starts!
  • October 1st – 7th – National 4-H Week! Join with 4-H members and alumni around the country in celebrating!
  • October 2nd (CORRECTED DATE) – 4-H Council Meeting 6:30pm Hegewald Center Stevenson, WA.  Nominations for Council President & Secretary Now Open
  • October 6th – 8th Stevenson Poultry Classic Open Poultry Show at the Skamania County Fairgrounds.
  • October 20th – 22nd 2017 WA State 4-H Forum  Make a Splash at the Great Wolf Lodge: two days of workshops, awards, speakers, and the event ends with the Washington State 4-H Council.
  • October 26th – 29thSnohomish County Shooting Sports Training
  • October 27th – 29th Northwest/Southwest District Teen Rally open for all teens 7th-12th grade! Build leadership skills & friendships with teens from 16 counties during The Curse of Island Lake.
  • October 28th -29th – Archery & Riflery Training 9-5 in Mt. Vernon, WA. For active volunteers only.  Find all the details at the online signup.

General Information for Volunteers

  • Take a couple of minutes and report your hours for August (including those unending hours during the Fair) here: http://ext.wsu.edu/Volunteers/logon.aspx.  Your username is your email and your password is “password!” without the quotation marks.
  • On October 2nd the 4-H Council will be holding elections for the President & Secretary Positions.  Nominations for both positions can be submitted to the 4-H Office up to the night of the 2nd & in person at the meeting.  Please be sure to attend and cast your vote!
  • 4HOnline is currently closed as we prepare for the 2017-2018 4-H year to start.

General Information for Members/Parents

  • On October 2nd the 4-H Council will be holding elections for the President & Secretary Positions.  Nominations for both positions can be submitted to the 4-H Office up to the night of the 2nd & in person at the meeting.  Please be sure to attend and cast your vote!
  • All Skamania County 4-H members are invited to take our 2017 Impact Survey online.  All survey responses are anonymous and completely voluntary.  Our goal is to gain a true understanding of our local 4-H program and we value your response!  You only have 11 more days to participate!
  • There are some pretty awesome events for 4-H Teens throughout the year.  Start off by making some awesome friends at the Teen Rally’s around WA. http://extension.wsu.edu/4h/youth/camps/ For youth grades 7th – 12th.
  • 4HOnline is currently closed as we prepare for the 2017-2018 4-H year to start.

Ways your club can celebrate National 4-H Week (October 1st-7th):

Share photos of you and your project, your 4-H Friends, or at a 4-H Event and tell us what 4-H means to you!

Take this opportunity to thank and celebrate the community members and business that support your club!  If you need some 4-H Thank You Cards to send out as a group let the office know.  You can always stop into a business and thank them in person.

Now is a great time to invite members to join your club or project area & to start a new project!  Make sure to Like, Follow, and Share our Facebook page!
