Thank you for your interest in the 2024 MRC Volunteer Training to become a Thurston County Master Recycler Composter volunteer (MRC).
Please read through the instructions carefully.
The application process to be considered for the 2024 MRC Volunteer Training involves two steps, 1) submit a completed 2024 MRC Application by 5pm on Sunday, September 1, and 2) pass the Criminal Background Check. Applicants must complete both steps to be accepted into the 2024 MRC Volunteer Training.
Completed applications must be submitted by 5pm on Sunday September 1, 2024 to be considered for the 2024 MRC Volunteer Training. Acceptance letters will be issued once applications have been reviewed and processed, and background checks are complete.
A $25 training fee will be collected at the first class. This fee covers the remaining training costs that are not subsidized by Thurston County Solid Waste Department and the Master Gardener Foundation of Thurston County. Do not send payment with your application or background check form!
Two-step 2024 MRC Training Application Process
Step 1: Complete the 2024 Master Recycler Composter Volunteer Application (webform) provided below and submit by 5pm on September 1, 2024.

PDF version of the Fall 2024 MRC Application – print, complete and return the application to the address listed on the application by 5pm on September 1, 2024.
Each application is screened and applicants that pass Step 1 will be contacted with directions for completing Step 2.
Step 2: Submit a completed criminal background check form.
A criminal background check is conducted on applicants that have passed Step 1.
To be accepted into the 2024 MRC Volunteer Training Program, applicants must pass both Step 1 and Step 2.
2024 Master Recycler Composter Volunteer Application
After completing the application, click the "SUBMIT" button at the bottom of the page to submit your application. A confirmation message will appear letting you know that your submission was successful. You will also receive an email from Program Staff to confirm that we have received your application.
