Springtime Youth Calf Sale

The Springtime Youth Calf Sale will be held March 21, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds Dairy Barn in Monroe, WA.

Timeline for the day:

9:00 am – State 4-H Quiz Bowl Contest – VIP Building on the fairgrounds

11:00 am – Workshops: Intro to AI (Artificial Insemination); Feed Stuff and More

1:00 pm – Announcement of Grant Winners & College Scholarship Winners; Silent Auction for WA Junior Holstein Association

2:00 pm – Sale start time

4-H/FFA Dairy Heifer Sale for youth only.

Quality, registered dairy heifers of all dairy breeds (depending on availability) – Sept (Fall Calf) and Dec. (Winter Calf) ages to be offered.

  • Must be present to bid and only by the youth.
  • Only one animal per youth.
  • Must be enrolled in 4-H or FFA dairy projects for the current year.
  • Ages 9 – 18 years of age and only the youth can do the bidding.

Grants of $500 are available to 4-H youth toward the purchase of dairy calves. For more information, please see the 2020 SYCS Grant Application Form.

Grant applications are due February 18th, 2020.


The Springtime Youth Calf Sale provides two $500 scholarships to applicants. To qualify you must have purchased a calf or helped at the Springtime Youth Calf Sale, must be or have been enrolled in 4-H or FFA, and for a senior in high school or currently attending college, must have not reached their 21st birthday before January 1.
