Handlers cannot touch the dog to position the dog during or in between exercises, unless it is part of the trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center  wsu-heading--style-marked wsu-heading--mark-centered wsu-heading--mark-color-vineyard\" id=\"beginner-tricks-list\">Beginner Tricks List<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Sit on command<\/strong>: Handlers may use hand and voice cues to sit the dog, but cannot touch the dog.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Down from a sit<\/strong>: Handlers will command the dog to down while standing in front of the dog.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stand: <\/strong>Handlers will stand the dog, leave the dog on a stay and go to the end of the leash, and then return to the dog. The dog must remain standing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sit for exam<\/strong>: Handlers will sit the dog, leave the dog on a stay, and go to the end of a six-foot leash. The judge will lightly touch the dog&#8217;s head and the handler will return to heel position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sit Up<\/strong>: The dog sits up on its hindquarters for three seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shake hands<\/strong>: The dog offers a paw to shake hands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>High five from a sit<\/strong>: The dog offers a paw from a sit position, for a high five.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Speak:<\/strong> The dog barks on cue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rollove<\/strong>r: The dog lies down and rolls over.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kiss<\/strong>: The dog touches their nose to the handler&#8217;s hand or cheek.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Catch:<\/strong> The dog catches a soft toy, ball, or treat tossed by the handler from two feet away.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dress Up<\/strong>: Dogs will wear something on their head; hat, glasses, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fetch It:<\/strong> Handler will throw an object such as a toy or a ball, six feet from the dog and command the dog to retrieve the object. The dog must bring the object back to within two feet of the handler.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jump<\/strong>: The dog jumps over an eight inch bar jump, on lead. The dog must come directly to the handler. The dog does not have to sit in front.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dance:<\/strong> The dog stands on hind legs and moves around to the count of three.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Circle:<\/strong> The handler and dog turn in a tight circle and stop with the dog sitting at heel position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paws up:<\/strong> Two front paws up onto handler\u2019s arm or leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paws up:<\/strong> Two front paws up on a low stool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flat Down:<\/strong> Down and over flat to the count of five.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance and Hold<\/strong> The handler will place a treat or object on the dog&#8217;s head or nose for the count of five.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bow<\/strong>: The dog takes a bow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Say your Prayers<\/strong>: The dog puts front paws up on handler\u2019s arm or other object and lowers his head between front legs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fetch It<\/strong>: The handler will throw a favorite soft toy or ball 15 feet for the dog to retrieve; the dog will fetch the object and bring it back to the handler within two feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fetch it to Hand: <\/strong>The handler will throw an object and the dog will fetch the object and return to the handler; the handler will take the object from the dog\u2019s mouth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leave It:<\/strong> The handler will command the dog to down and place a treat one foot in front of the dog, give the command to leave it; the dog must leave the treat to the count of three.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tunnel Straight:<\/strong> The handler will send the dog through a straight tunnel as the handler runs by the tunnel and meets the dog at the opposite end.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dog Push-Ups:<\/strong> The dog must perform one set of three done twice; sit, down; sit, down; sit, down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kennel Up:<\/strong> Handler sends the dog into a crate from three feet to five feet away. The dog must stay until released at the count of three. Handlers must provide their own crate for this trick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jump Send: <\/strong>The handler sends the dog over an eight inch bar jump and recalls back over jump.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Target Touch<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>The dog touches a hand or a target held in the hand on command.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance Beam Walk:<\/strong> The dog walks on a short board a few inches off the floor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance Beam Sit:<\/strong> The dog sits on a balance beam or board.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n    <\/div><\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section wsu-width--full wsu-color-background--white wsu-spacing-after--default wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\"  >\r\n    <div class=\"wsu-section__inner wsu-width--content\">    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-heading--style-marked wsu-heading--mark-color-vineyard\" id=\"chapter-1\">Advanced<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" wsu-max-width--hero\">Handlers will perform all tricks off leash without treats. A treat may be given after the dog has performed each trick.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center  wsu-heading--style-marked wsu-heading--mark-color-vineyard wsu-heading--mark-centered\" id=\"advanced-tricks-list\">Advanced Tricks List<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"21\">\n<li><strong>Turn In Place: <\/strong>The handler and dog can make two turns in a tight circle and stop with the dog sitting at heel position.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jump Arm<\/strong>: The dog jumps through the handler\u2019s circled arms. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jump Hoop<\/strong>: The dog jumps through a hoop; hoop can be horizontal or vertical.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jump Leg:<\/strong> The dog jumps over the handler&#8217;s leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Retrieve Over Jump:<\/strong> The handler throws an object of their choice over an eight inch bar jump and the dog must go over the jump to retrieve the object and return over the jump to the handler.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Back Up<\/strong>: The dog walks backwards for three body lengths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Crawl<\/strong>: The dog crawls at least three body lengths.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tunnel<\/strong> <strong>U:<\/strong> The handler sends the dog through the U-shape tunnel from six feet away. The dog must return to the handler when called.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance Sit:<\/strong> The dog will jump up on a low step stool and sit on command. Not recommended for large dogs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Go Find:<\/strong> The handler hides an object or treat and sends the dog to find it..<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dog Leg Weaves:<\/strong> The dog weaves round the handler&#8217;s legs for a minimum of six steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Go To Place: <\/strong>The handler sends the dog to a mat, bed, or crate from 10 feet away. Handlers must provide a mat, bed, or crate for this trick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carry:<\/strong> The dog can carry any object such as a basket, toy, or dumbbell, at least 10 feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stress Stay:<\/strong> The handler leaves the dog in a sit or down, goes out eight feet and sits on the floor for a count of 10.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Targe<\/strong><strong>t send out<\/strong>: The handler leaves the dog in a sit, places an object such as a toy or ball, on a target 10 feet from the dog and returns to heel position. The handler sends the dog out to fetch the object. The dog must return with the object to within two feet of the handler.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Retrieve any object<\/strong> The dog retrieves any object from 15 to 20 feet back to the handler\u2019s hand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Finish Dog<\/strong>: The handler will give the command to finish with the dog sitting in front. Dogs may finish to the side or by going around the handler. Dogs performing both finishes count as completing the trick twice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sit or down at a distance:<\/strong> Handlers will leave their dog in a stand position, walk 15 feet away and command the dog to either sit or down. The handler must choose either voice or hand signal, but not both, to cue the dog. This trick is only required to be performed once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leave It<\/strong>: The handler will heel the dog down one side of the ring with two toys and two food treats on the floor. The handler can only give a verbal Leave It command two times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hand signals<\/strong>: Handlers will leave their dog and walk 10 feet away.
