SUMMARY:2026 Washington Swine Information Day
DESCRIPTION:Washington Swine Information Day offers targeted presentations designed to address the diverse needs of Pacific Northwest swine producers. \nThe morning session includes certification training for the National Pork Board’s Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA+) for adults and Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) for youth. These certifications are increasingly required by pork packers and fairs. The session concludes with Katlyn Cain from the National Pork Board discussing best practices for receiving feeder pigs to ensure health and growth during transport and transition. \nDuring the pork luncheon\, Dr. Gordon Murdoch\, Chair of WSU Animal Science\, and the WSU Student Swine Cooperative will provide rapid updates from WSU Animal Sciences. \nThe afternoon session begins with Dr. Shannon Neibergs\, WSU Extension Livestock Economist\, addressing hog prices\, grain trends\, and farm economics for 2026. Katlyn Cain will then highlight the critical role of people and pigs in the future of the U.S. swine industry. Dr. Paul Kuber\, WSU Regional Extension Specialist\, will present on identifying market-ready pigs for various industry segments. The day concludes with Dr. Zach Turner and Mr. David Hecimovich sharing WSDA updates on swine health and animal traceability to meet state and federal requirements. \nPlease see the brochure for more information.

SUMMARY:2025 Northwest Sheep Exposition
DESCRIPTION:The Northwest Junior Sheep Exposition (NWJSE)\, presented by the Washington Junior Lamb Carcass Show (WJLCS)\, is an educational event that offers youth the opportunity to obtain growth and ultrasound carcass results from lambs they exhibit. Participants will learn to select fast-gaining lambs that are heavily muscled and properly finished. Participation in this event will lead to a better understanding of the economics related to producing market lambs. The show provides participants the opportunity to exhibit their skills in showmanship\, fitting sheep\, judging sheep and wool\, and teaches spectators about the sheep industry and sheep husbandry through educational displays. Participation in the NWJSE is a quality educational experience because exhibitors learn about desirable market traits of meat and wool. \nFor more information\, please see the links below. \n2025 Premium Book \n2025 COUG Premier Exhibitor Guidelines
