Weaving Bright Futures

Partnership with Spokane Regional Health District

Weaving Bright Futures is a collaborative effort between CAFRU, local elementary schools and the Spokane Regional Health District. Currently, two public health nurses work in four elementary schools. Their primary responsibility is to work with families to identify the root causes of their stress and to facilitate access to needed community services. They also provide consultation and support to school staff and help identify system and policy issues that may be creating barriers. The outcomes are to reduce the impact of ACEs, increase the child’s readiness to learn, and decrease their risk of developing chronic health conditions.
