Chelan\/Douglas County 4-H Wants You!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in becoming a 4-H Volunteer, there are some steps to go through to become certified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes a lot of teamwork and coordination from families, volunteers, and staff to provide safe and fun programming for our youth.  To continue to create quality programs and ensure a safe and welcoming 4-H community, there is a bit of a process when applying to become a volunteer.  Here\u2019s a quick look at what you may expect during the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Application<\/strong>: Apply to become an 4-H Volunteer by completing and submitting this Volunteer Application (pdf).<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Training<\/strong>: When the application is received, instructions for the online trainings will be emailed back to you. These take 1-2 hours and can be completed at your convenience.  Please keep in mind that some projects, like Shooting Sports, may require additional volunteer trainings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Reference Check<\/strong>: While you are working on the online trainings, a reference request will be sent to your personal references.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Screening<\/strong>: A background check will be run on each applicant before final approval.  A link will be emailed to you by Sterling Volunteers (often goes to junk mail folder) to permit and initiate the background check. On-going volunteers must be cleared through a new background check every 3 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Orientation<\/strong>: Last but not least, the 4-H Program Coordinator will arrange a time to go through a local program orientation with you.  The orientation can be scheduled at your convenience, done in-person or as a virtual meeting, and takes about 1 hour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    We are here to help you navigate the volunteer certification process at any point that you need assistance. Once all the steps are completed, you will be officially certified!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
