What is the virtual fair?
It’s like the Clallam County Fair, but all online!
Each week there will be competitions where you can submit entries in order to win fair ribbons. Fair ribbons will say “Clallam County Spring Virtual Fair”, while supplies last, if we run out the Clallam County Fair has offered official Clallam County Fair ribbons.
Most of these competitions will be geared toward meeting requirements and preparing you for the 2020 Clallam County Fair.

Entry Submission
Email entries to Melanie.greer@wsu.edu including the name and age of person entering.
Submissions may be shared on Social media:
- Each competition will have a corresponding Facebook post on Clallam 4-H Facebook
- On Instagram at @Clallam4h. If you choose to post your progress or finished product on your Instagram please include @clallam4h #ClallamSpringVirtualFair #4H #wsuextension
Rules
- Clallam County Fair rules apply.
- Must have active or pending enrollment on 4-H online in a Clallam County club.
- All submissions will by judged by standard WSU scorecards – but not by the same judge who will judge them at the Clallam County Fair in the summer. So a ribbon placement is not guaranteed to be the same as the one you receive at the Clallam County Fair.
- All submissions will be judged in your age group – cloverbuds will receive participation ribbons.
Week 1: March 16- ongoing
Competition 1: Posters

Submissions for this will be accepted until Monday, March 23rd. Again, you can submit your poster by email to melanie.greer@wsu.edu, submissions must include first and last name and age.
Submissions will be judged by age group and WSU posters scorecard.

Competition 2: Educational Displays

Week 2: March 23rd-ongoing
Competition 2: Educational Displays
We will continue to accept educational displays throughout this week with a deadline of end of the day on Monday, March 30th.
Competition 3: Photography
Time to pull out a camera, even the one on your phone, and take some photographs of what you are seeing.
Submissions for this will be accepted until Monday, March 30th. Again, you can submit your poster by email to melanie.greer@wsu.edu, submissions must include first and last name and age.
Submissions will be judged by age group and WSU photography scorecard. Photography is normally judged to include a border, that ranking will not be considered for the Virtual Fair, since few people are able to print a photograph at home.

Week 3: March 30-ongoing
Competition 4: Demonstrations
We are now accepting videos of your demonstration! Remember to have someone ask you at least one question, so the judge can assess your answer, including if you re-stated the question. Suggested time by age:

| Cloverbuds | 5-7 years old | Less than 5 minutes |
| Juniors | 8-10 years old | 3-8 minutes |
| Intermediates | 11-13 years old | 5-15 minutes |
| Seniors | 14-<19 years old | 10-20 minutes |

Week 4: April 13-ongoing
Competition 5: 4-H in Action
For this week we want to be introduced to one of your projects. Create a short less than 3 minute video where you show us one of your projects.
Tell us:
- What it is
- It’s name (if it has one)
- What kind it is (breed or brand)
- How old it is
- What you have to do to take care of it
- Why you like this project.
This doesn’t have to be an animal project. You could tell us about your mountain bike, your camera, sewing machine, or of course your animal.
You can email submissions to Melanie or post it directly to the facebook post that will be created for this week.
Week 5: April 20-ongoing
Competition 6: drawing/painting
Submit a drawing or painting you create by emailing it to Melanie.greer@wsu.edu. As usual entries should include the exhibitor’s name and may be shared on Facebook and Instagram.
Entries will be judged using the creative arts scorecard.
Week 6: April 27-ongoing
Competition 7: Cardboard Creations
As part of “Items Created During Quarantine”, we are this week asking that you create something out of cardboard including items you already have.
These submissions can be emailed to Melanie.greer@wsu.edu. As usual entries should include the exhibitor’s name and may be shared on Facebook and Instagram.
Entries will be judged using the creative arts scorecard.
Do you have a competition idea?
If you have a competition idea, please email it to melanie.greer@wsu.edu, remember that competitions need to be able to be submitted virtually and judged from afar. Also, we are limited in judging capability – translation if we want one week to be showmanship videos for example, we need judges who are able to assess performance.
Melanie is also taking ideas on special prizes for Grand Champions.
