Woodcock Walkabout – Orchard Time!

October 6, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Fall is descending on us and with that, its harvest time.  Woodcock Demonstration Gardens is having the last of the season, free “Walk-About” tour on Oct 6th at 10am.  The highlight this month will be our Fruit Orchard Gardens.  The apples are fat and sassy and ready for cider making and the pears are plump and perfect for jams and liquors.  Our Master Gardener Bruce Pape is our team leader of the Orchard and Valerie Bowers heads up the Espalier Orchard Garden.  Come stroll through the fruit tree Orchard and see the 21 plus varieties of apples, 4 pears, 2 peaches and 3 cherry tree varieties.  Our Master Gardeners will guide you through and teach you about the differences in apples.  In other areas of the gardens, vegetables are being harvested for the food bank and the small fruits area is alive in reds, purples and black berries busting with sweet flavors.  The weather has been warm and sunny for a riot of color throughout the perennial flower gardens.  Make sure to pick up a self -guided tour brochure to help you navigate the gardens alongside the presenters.  You will be free to stroll around the gardens and speak with the Master Gardeners who are working to keep this place beautiful for the community’s enjoyment.

The Woodcock Demonstration Garden is a beautiful 2.74-acre site that has been in operation for 35 yrs and is open to the public for educational purposes.
