SUMMARY:Blueberry Pruning Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Photo Copyright Amy McIntyre/WSU Clallam County Extension \nJoin Master Gardener Jeanette Stehr-Green and farmer Gary Heaton of Blueberry Haven Farm for an informative and hands-on blueberry pruning workshop. This workshop is for farmers or berry growers. \nTopics include:\n-Basic blueberry pruning principles and techniques for optimal fruit production\n-Growth patterns of blueberry canes\n-Considerations that affect pruning practices such as bush growth habit\, vigor\, neglect and other production methods\n-Renovate older\, neglected plants \nLocation:\n12-1pm – Crescent Grange Hall\, 50724 Hwy 112 Port Angeles\n1-3pm – Blueberry Haven Farm\, 173 Lewallen Rd\, Port Angeles\nThe first part of the workshop will take place at the Crescent Grange Hall for instruction and presentation. The latter part of the workshop will take place about 3 miles down the road at Blueberry Haven Farm. Travel is not provided to each location – please plan on driving to the farm. \nPlease bring the following:\n-Warm and dry clothes and footwear for outdoor weather for the afternoon on-farm pruning demonstration.\n-Gloves\n-Hand pruners and/or loppers\n-Lunch or snacks and beverage\n-Notepad and a writing utensil \nLunch is not provided. \nPlease note that wheelchair accessibility is available at the Grange location only.
