What is Food Preservation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Food Preservation is the process of treating perishable foods to slow down or stop food spoilage via microorganism growth or oxidation of fats, to improve the nutrition, shelf life, quality and\/or safety of the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WSU Clallam County Extension has a Consumer Food Safety and Preservation advisor on staff to answer questions via email or over the phone. Pressure Canner Gauge Testing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Home canners should have their pressure canner gauges tested annually for proper calibration. Pressure gauge testing is available at the Clallam County Extension Office by appointment. Please call 360-417-2279 to set up a time to have your gauge tested. When you bring your gauge into our office for testing, remember to bring both the gauge and the lid, along with any rubber seals attached to the lid unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
