Clubs can determine which projects the club is able to provide based on available Volunteer support. Depending on the club and project, members may attend project meetings or work independently. New project leader volunteers are always welcome to apply. 4-H Curriculum is available. Contact the 4-H office for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Horse Projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Horse rules will be updated in the 2026-2027 4-H year, so please check with your leader to ensure you have the up-to-date information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/2069\/2017\/05\/2017-Clallam-County-4-H-Horse-Rules.pdf\">Clallam County 4-H Horse Rule Book<\/a> for program rules. Horse committee will annually review county Horse program rule book and make updates as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All necessary Horse forms can be found on the Clallam County <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/clallam\/4h\/4-h-horse-projects\/\">4-H Horse Projects<\/a> page. <strong><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All clubs hosting horse projects must have at least one representative that attends 60% of Horse Committee meetings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Club Horse Lists (stating intended project animals) are due to Horse program leader by June 1<sup>st<\/sup> of each year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign off sheets are due August 1<sup>st<\/sup> to Horse Superintendent with Fair Entry forms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horse project members must declare state intent by April 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Page 1 of the Horse State Intent form is due April 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Page 2 of the Horse State Intent form is due August 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PNWJLA Projects:<strong> <\/strong>(Market Beef, Swine, Sheep, and Goat)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The PNWJLA is a partner organization governed by the Pacific Northwest Junior Livestock Auction committee. The PNWJLA is the only auction recognized by Clallam County 4-H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All clubs hosting Auction projects should have a designated adult volunteer representative that attends the PNWJLA Mandatory Parent Meeting and Quality Assurance Class annually. Club leader participation at PNWJLA committee meetings is strongly encouraged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See current <strong>PNWJLA Rules<\/strong> (available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnwjla.com\/\">PNWJLA website<\/a>) for mandatory requirements for auction participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dairy Project:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth will declare their dairy Cattle project animal(s) and turn in a com<a href=\"http:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/2069\/2017\/12\/dairy-cert.doc\">pleted Dairy Certificate (WSU Pub. CO234E)<\/a> for each animal to the cattle barn superintendent by July 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Youth are encouraged to turn in certificates for every animal they anticipate working with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth will declare their dairy Goat project animal(s) and turn in a completed <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.extension.wsu.edu\/product\/4-h-dairy-goat-certificate\/\">Dairy Certificate (WSU Pub. CO895E)<\/a> for each animal to the cattle barn superintendent by July 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Youth are encouraged to turn in certificates for every animal they anticipate working with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project Resources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit the Clallam County Extension Website <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/clallam\/4h\/membersandfamilies\/\">Club Members and Families <\/a>page for 4-H resources including specific project information. These resources provide information about resources, animal management and care dates, required and recommended vaccinations, showing attire, Fair entry requirements, and additional activities in the specific project areas.<\/p>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"financial-requirements\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Club and Council Financial Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>All clubs wishing to fund raise must either hold money raised as a line item in Council or work with the office to obtain an EIN before beginning to fund raise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clubs and Council are not able to hold raffles or any other type of gambling game without a gambling license from the state of Washington.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"youth-leadership\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Club Meetings with Youth in Leadership Roles!&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendance at club meetings is a critical part of 4-H participation. Youth are elected to officer roles.&nbsp; Resources are available to assist youth in learning their leadership role. Youth learn the Order of a Meeting and Parliamentary Procedure. Example: How to make a motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Youth Leadership Opportunities&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many leadership opportunities for Intermediate (11-13yrs) and Senior (14-18yrs.).&nbsp; There are county leadership programs, teen rallies, and state-wide teen conferences such as <em>WA State 4-H Know Your Government.<\/em><\/p>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--color-vineyard wsu-border--add-top\" id=\"volunteers\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All volunteers must have an approved enrollment in 4-H Online every year before working with any 4-H youth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers should renew background checks promptly when asked. Background checks are renewed every other year through Sterling Volunteers. Enrollments will not be approved until the background check comes back clear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some years volunteers will be required to complete an additional training before their enrollment is approved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certified Volunteers are only volunteers with an active, approved enrollment in 4-H Online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers who do not have an active enrollment in 4-H online for two straight years will need to re-apply as a new volunteer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers need to track their hours in <a href=\"https:\/\/wsu.givepulse.com\/group\/453106\">Give Pulse<\/a> in order to be eligible for L&amp;I.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"council\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">County 4-H Council<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Clallam County 4-H Council helps facilitate 4-H promotion, recommends 4-H program direction within Clallam County, and much more. Meetings are the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Tuesday or each month at 6:30pm at the WSU Clallam County Extension Office. The council also fund raises for a Scholarship program for our graduating seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Council Scholarship Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The council provides a scholarship program for 4-H youth who meet qualifications. See <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/clallam\/4h\/membersandfamilies\/#awards-scholarships\">Clallam County 4-H Awards and Scholarship<\/a> page for Council Scholarship Program Application and Requirements. The scholarship committee will annually review the scholarship program information and make updates as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-H graduating seniors will earn $200 of scholarship for each qualifying year up to a maximum of $1000, as fundraising allows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Council holds a fundraiser annually to support scholarships. 4-H club members in grades 8-12 must qualify each year (up to 5 years) by participating in the annual scholarship fundraiser.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Youth must have participated in 4-H (at minimum) their 11th and 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduating seniors must turn in up to date record books with Scholarship Applications by April 1<sup>st<\/sup> to Extension office and complete their 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade 4-H year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lifetime Achievement Bonus is an additional scholarship application that is to be turned in with the main scholarship application by April 1<sup>st<\/sup>. This $400 scholarship is available to 4-H\u2019ers who have completed every 4-H year since they were 5 <strong>and<\/strong> qualify for the full $1000 main scholarship. This bonus is available as fundraising allows.<\/p>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"recordbooks\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Record Books<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Clallam County 4-Hers must turn in a complete and up-to-date County 4-H record book to their club leader 5 days BEFORE the turn in dates listed below or on the date your club leader requests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>July 15th &#8211; to compete or exhibit in 4-H Fair events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>October 1st- to complete the 4-H year and qualify for scholarships &amp; year-end awards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The only volunteers able to sign off on a record book are the general club leader or the project leader for that project section. 4-H Extension staff can also sign a record book if there is a reason why the project leader was unable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is available to download from the Clallam County Extension Website <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/clallam\/4h\/clallam-4-h-record-book\/\">Clallam 4-H Record Books <\/a>page or you can pick up a printed copy from the extension office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Cloverbud 4-H members (5-7) are not required to turn in record books and their books cannot be judged competitively. Cloverbud members are encouraged to practice record keeping along with older club members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Members requesting accommodations should notify their club leader or the Extension office.<\/em><\/p>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"demonstrations\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public Presentations (Demonstrations)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To compete in 4-H in the Clallam County Fair and\/or complete their 4-H year, each 4-H member in a community club must complete a 4-H Public Presentation (Demonstration) at the club or County level before July 15th of the 4-H year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>4-Hers may choose to do a team Presentation with another member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Youth are encouraged to practice their demonstration multiple times throughout the year, particularly in front of a public group. Posters must be turned in to your club leader before July 15th. Leaders must turn club posters in by 4:00pm to the Extension office on July 15th<sup>.<\/sup> Poster judging is completed prior to fair. Posters must be done by the 4-H member in their current project area(s). Limit 2 posters per project area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information on how to create a poster available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/clallam\/4h\/membersandfamilies\/\">Club Members and Families<\/a> page<\/p>\n\n    <\/section>\n\n<section  class=\"wsu-section  wsu-border--add-top wsu-border--color-vineyard\" id=\"fairs\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Clallam County Fair<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete in 4-H contests in the Clallam County Fair, 4-H members must meet specific county 4-H requirements including turning in an up-to-date 4-H record book and completing a club level demonstration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>All fairground and judges rules, requirements, and decisions are final.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for the Clallam County Fair Exhibitor\u2019s Guide which is published on the Clallam County Fair website in May. Be sure to read your projects section in order to meet any project specific requirements and entry requirements for each barn at the Clallam County Fair. Animal entry forms are due to the Fair Office on July 1<sup>st<\/sup>. Entry forms are available through the Extension office, the fair office, or from your club or project leader. Your club leader is required to sign your animal entry form to ensure it is completed correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fair Camping- The fair camping registration form is available on the Clallam County Fair website and on the inside back cover of the Exhibitor Guide. Campsites are secured on a first-come, first served basis. If you plan to camp, make sure you turn your form in to the fair office as soon as possible when the form is available in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: 4-H Members completing all requirements will earn a Fair Exhibitor pass (purchased by our county 4-H Council). Watch for instructions about member and parent passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WA State 4-H Fair<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualified Junior, Intermediate, and Senior members may be able to compete in their project area at the WA State 4-H fair held each September in Puyallup. Talk to your 4-H Club or project leader as your first action.
