For more than 100 years, 4\u2011H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Through life-changing 4-H programs, nearly six million kids and teens are learning the skills and abilities to be resilient, adaptable and ready for work and life.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clallam County 4-H<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H is the youth development education program of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/\">Washington State University Extension<\/a>, which is conducted jointly by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nifa.usda.gov\/\">U.S. Department of Agriculture<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/\">Washington State University<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clallamcountywa.gov\/\">Clallam County<\/a>.<br><br>In 4\u2011H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4\u2011H in every county and parish in the country through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4\u2011H camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4\u2011H\u2019s reach and depth are unmatched, reaching kids in every corner of America \u2013 from urban neighborhoods to suburban schoolyards to rural farming communities. This will be accomplished through a systematic approach of foundation and mission-driven science to meet the 4-H goals to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Provide formal and non-formal experiential learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop skills that benefit youth throughout life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foster leadership and volunteerism in youth and adults<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build internal and external partnerships for programming and funding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen families and communities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employ research-based knowledge and the land grant university system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embrace and expand the traditions of the 4-H Youth Development program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Clallam County 4-H has a variety of programs and projects that youth and adults can participate in.<\/p>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Essential Elements of 4-H<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Belonging \u2013 Mastery \u2013 Independence \u2013 Generosity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Essential Elements of 4-H Youth Development are basic principles upon which the 4-H Youth Development Program operates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Belonging<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A Positive Relationship with a Caring Adult<\/strong> who acts as an advisor, guide, and mentor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>An Inclusive Environment<\/strong> that creates a sense of belonging encourages and supports members with positive and specific feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A Safe Environment<\/strong> where everyone is free of fears related to physical and emotional harm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mastery<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>An Opportunity for Mastery<\/strong> is the building of knowledge, skills and attitudes and the opportunity to demonstrate one&#8217;s competence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>An Engagement in Learning<\/strong> means that one is mindful of one&#8217;s subject area and can build relationships and connections with other subject areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Independence<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Opportunity to See Oneself as an Active Participant in the Future<\/strong> and to shape life choices to facilitate the transition into participating in the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Opportunity for Self-Determination<\/strong> and exercising a sense of influence over our lives, exercising our potential to become self-directing, autonomous adults.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Generosity<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Opportunity to Value and Practice Service to Others<\/strong>. Finding one&#8217;s self begins with losing self in the service of others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Incorporating these elements enables the 4-H Program to focus on positive outcomes desired for youth;
