Driving, Jumping, Horseless Horse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members must be age 8 by October 1<sup>st<\/sup> of the current 4-H year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Member\u2019s project horses will be selected and included on the Club\u2019s Member\/Horse list by May 1<sup>st<\/sup>\n<ul>\n<li>changes made after May 15<sup>th<\/sup> are subject to the Grievance procedure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members must be in possession of their animal 90 days before the county qualifying event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members who are borrowing\/leasing their project animals are strongly encouraged to use the WSU Feed Lease Agreement available through the Extension office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signed Fair Release forms from each member are due by May 1<sup>st<\/sup>, or prior to riding at the fairgrounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Record Book<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Complete a Clallam County 4-H Record Book with separate project record section for each project. Include at least one goal for each disciple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2025\/10\/Washington-4-H-Equine-Program-Rule-Book.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"25256\">WA Equine Program Rule Book (PDF Version)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.extension.wsu.edu\/search?q=horse\">WSU Extension Horse project resources<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curriculum is available for check out at the Clallam County 4-H Extension office.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breeds\/Health Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Horses may be any breed. Horses do not need to be registered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Animals will be vet-checked prior to enter in fair and must be free of parasites and diseases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vaccinations recommended by WA State 4-H Fair: West Nile Virus, Equine monocytic-ehrlichiosis (Potomac horse fever &#8211; PHF), Rhinopneumonitis (Equine Herpes Virus, EHV-1) influenza and tetanus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Vet\u2019s word is final. Always treat the vet with respect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">County Fair Participation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Enter animals using a Clallam County Fair Exhibitor\u2019s Guide and Horse Entry Form turned in to the fair office by July 1st.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All 4-H members showing animals must enter Showmanship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See Clallam County Horse Rules for specific requirements. Horses must be signed off by a club leader for each class (See Clallam County Horse Sign off sheet) by July 15<sup>th<\/sup> or pre-fair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members must do herdsmanship all four days of the county fair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No grievance to change horses will be heard after August 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Showing Attire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Boots and ASTM SEI approved helmet must be worn when riding &#8211; all shows, all classes, all workdays, all ages. Boots must have a flat sole with a heal stop. Leaders must check members\u2019 helmet to verify they are ASTM SEI APPROVED.&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Awards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>See Clallam County 4-H Awards Handbook for award information and application instructions. Awards are given out at the Clallam County Celebrate 4-H Achievement Day in fall!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific Project Area Awards for these projects: Horse Leaders\u2019 Incentive Award, Horse Achievement Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Horse Judging Contest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If available, Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors may participate in the Horse Judging\/Knowledge contest. See Clallam County Fair Exhibitor Guide for information. Youth may qualify to participate in Horse Judging at State Fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">State Fair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligibility for state fair is only open to intermediates and seniors. All state intent youth must notify their club leader. See the Clallam County Horse Rules for specific information about State Intent and qualifying for state fair. There is a mandatory State Intent meeting in the Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/fairs\/state-4-h-fair\/\">4-H State Fair Exhibitor Guide<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualifying for the 4-H State Fair:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>4-H\u2019er must notify the County Fair Barn Superintendent of the animal project they wish to enter at State Fair by Sunday morning of the county fair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a part of the qualifying allotment. See State 4-H fair Exhibitor\u2019s guide, and or ask barn Superintendent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-H\u2019er must attend the State Exhibitor meeting, time\/day to be announced during fair, and register in Fair Entry before the end of the Sunday of the county fair.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At State Fair:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Each Species of animal stalls as a county.
