Some gardeners spend little time weeding with few weeds in their landscape<\/span>s and <\/span>gardens. <\/span>O<\/span>thers spend hours and hours only to have t<\/span>heir gardens<\/span> covered with weeds<\/span>.<\/span> Why?<\/span> David\u2019s class on the science of weeds l<\/span>ooks at causes of weed problems and various management techniques<\/span> to hinder their spread.<\/span><\/p>\n

David will take the audience through different scenarios on weed prevention, as management depends on the specific weeds and the gardening conditions. \u201cThis class gives a variety of weed management techniques that the individual gardener can incorporate, depending on their specific situation,\u201d he said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David Whiting is an avid gardener and retired Professor and Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Colorado State University. David has spent most of his professional career at the county or state level leading Master Gardener Programs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Green Thumbs Garden Tips” education series, sponsored by the Washington State University Clallam County Master Gardeners, is held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month through October. In November, December, and January, one lecture is offered. Scheduled presentations are subject to change.
