Our yard, garden and food waste account for nearly 20% of the total trash thrown away each year. Instead of tossing these valuable resources, turn them into compost!<br \/>\nJoin Meggan Uecker, Waste Reduction Coordinator for Clallam County, and other Master Composters for a home composting workshop on Tuesday, July 28. The class will take place from 5:30pm- 7:30pm at the Master Gardener\u2019s Woodcock Demonstration Garden located at 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will begin with a presentation on the basics of home composting. Other activities include hands on compost pile building, and a guided tour of various composting systems to help you evaluate methods for your home decomposition of yard debris and food scraps, including a vermicomposting system. The workshop will conclude with experienced composters providing helpful tips for trouble-shooting your compost system and making sure it is an effective tool for providing nutritious organic material for your garden beds.<\/p>\n<p>The cost of the workshop is $10 per person and includes a copy of the popular composting booklet, <i>Home Composting Made Easy<\/i>. Please contact the WSU Extension office at (360) 565-2679 to register.
