MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM — Special Projects
Master Gardeners serve as garden mentors with several SW Washington-area senior/assisted living centers. The program enhances the quality of life for residents by assisting them in growing edible and ornamental plants in gardens on site at their living facilities. Volunteers help residents to decide what to plant and work with them on garden maintenance thru to harvest. This activity encourages socialization and participation in a beneficial physical activity.
In 2016, thirteen Garden Mentors made 192 senior/assisted living center visits.
