DESCRIPTION:  \nBaurs Corner Farm Tour Highlights Stewardship  \nSaturday\, October 23rd\, 2021 – 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM \nRidgefield\, WA \nCost: $10+fees per household \nPre-registration is required at: https://tour102321.eventbrite.com \nIn-person\, wearing MASKS is REQUIRED \n  \nQuestions: email terry.koper@wsu.edu or call 564-397-5729. \n  \nClark County\, WA – WSU Clark County Extension’s Small Acreage Program invites participants to tour Baurs Corner Farm in Ridgefield\, WA that was recognized for stewardship efforts in 2021.  The twenty-nine-acre farm sustainably grows hazelnuts. The Baurs planted their hazelnut orchard in 2018 while implementing practices to reduce mud and control runoff to reduce negative impacts to soil and water quality\, such as planting a riparian buffer strip. Participants will have the opportunity to see a hedgerow\, composting bins\, dahlias\, fruit trees\, barns and chickens on this beautiful farm. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about old tractors and dry farming. \n  \nThe Small Acreage Program\, co-sponsored by WSU Clark County Extension and Clark County Clean Water Program. \n  \nTerry Koper\, Small Acreage Program Coordinator\, says “The Baur’s are a great example in our county\, modelling stewardship practices that keep streams and ground water healthy.”  These property tours are guided educational events focused on teaching stewardship practices and are open to everyone. \n  \nWSU Extension programs are available to all without discrimination.
