In 1924, if your family couldn’t pay its bills, what happened? You might have been sent to “the poor farm.”<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That historic “poor farm” in Clark County is now the 78th Street Heritage Farm. It is home to demonstration gardens of the Master Gardeners program, with a history going back to 1865. Placed on the Washington Historic Register in 2012, the 79-acre property has a unique and compelling story for people of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join a WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener for a guided tour of the 78th Street Heritage Farm. Stroll the property with a knowledgeable docent and learn about the property’s storied history and its current role in horticulture education, agricultural research, food security and community enrichment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tours involve prolonged standing and walking on uneven ground with some elevation change. Bring water, dress for the weather. Advanced registration is required. Tour size is limited. Please don’t register if you aren’t sure you can attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
