The value of urban forests is clear. Each tree offers significant benefits to the community. Together these trees form the urban canopy, which provides multiple ecosystem services \u2013 improving air quality, moderating the heat island effect, managing stormwater, and providing habitat. In 2021, The City worked with Planit Geo to create an updated tree canopy assessment across Vancouver.
