Master Gardener Workshop: Build a Worm Composting Box

September 12, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$30

Join the Cowlitz County Master Gardeners as we learn about vermiculture, or worm box composting, which is a process in which red wiggler worms and microorganisms are used to convert kitchen fruit and vegetable waste (peelings, etc.) into nutrient-rich,  humus – “black gold” – compost. This is an amazing fertilizer and soil conditioner that will make your garden plants healthier and more productive.

In this online workshop you will learn about this method of composting, and build your own simple composting box with the kit included in this course.  The kit contains everything you need to begin your vermiculture experience, including worms.

The tuition for this workshop is $30, which includes your kit, an exclusive link to an informative presentation about worm composting and how to maintain your worms, and this will be followed by step-by-step video instruction for building  your own bin from the workshop kit.

The class is limited to 30 participants. Register and pay securely online https://www.ticketsource.us/wsu-extension-master-gardeners . The office cannot accept personal checks or cash at this time.

For more information, please call the Extension Office 360-577-3014, Ext. 3.

This workshop is sponsored by the WSU Extension Master Gardeners.

Kit pickup for the box is 9am-12 pm on Sept 12.  Pickup times are determined by attendees during registration and payment.  The instructional workshop and box assembly may take place at the attendees convenience during the following two days.  Delays in constructing the box will harm the red wiggler worms.
