SUMMARY:Dial Gauge Testing
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready for canning season?  Dial gauges for pressure canners need to be tested each year for accuracy. Gauges that read high cause under-processing and may result in unsafe food and risk of botulism.  Low readings cause over-processing. Pressure adjustments can be made if the gauge reads up to 2 pounds high or low but gauges that differ by more than 2 pounds need to be replaced. Dial gauges can be tested on May 9\, May 21\, June 11\, and June 27\, 10:00 – 12:00 am for $5.00 at the WSU Extension office located at 1946 Third Avenue\, Longview.  For more information\, contact Carlee Dowell at 577-3014 Ext 0 or DowellC@co.cowlitz.wa.us.
