2020 Ferry County Fair CANCELED

Posted by shannon.vestal | July 30, 2020

Dear Ferry County 4-H Community,

It is with deep emotion that I send you this announcement from the Ferry County Fair Board:

The Ferry County Fair Board has been working through the many challenges of planning to hold the 77th annual Ferry County Fair, September 4-6, 2020.  Despite the Fair Board and County Commissioner’s efforts, it has become clear that there isn’t a path forward to hold this treasured Ferry County event and the Fair Board acted during its regularly scheduled meeting July 23rd to cancel the 2020 Ferry County Fair.

The Ferry County Fair Board had been optimistic that the county would be in Phase 4 of Washington State’s Phased Reopening Approach, but recent events and direction related to COVID-19 has resulted in it being highly unlikely that we could hold our event and meet the expectations of the State.  This Fair Board regrettably had to cancel this Year’s Fair and now will be focusing its attention on providing for a market animal livestock auction for the 4-H members that had been raising animals they intended to show and sell at the fair.

4-H members that had been planning to show a market animal at this year’s fair should still register their project with the fair, as we will use those registrations to make plans for the sale that will be on September 5th.  This year’s premium book, which contains the registration forms is available at the Ferry County Fair website at http://ferrycountyfair.com/

If participants or community members have questions about the fair or market sale, please contact the Ferry County Fair office at (509) 775-3146.

I am grateful to the Ferry County Fair Board for their continued support and dedication to agricultural education for our youth.  The safety of the youth, volunteers, and the public was at the forefront of this painful decision.

Thank you all for all you do for each other and the community.  This is a difficult time for everyone, because the Fair is important to many of us in the 4-H community and in Ferry County.

Sincerely,

Shannon Young
