DESCRIPTION:Is my forest healthy?\nHow do I know? \nThis event offers the opportunity to:\n• Learn to identify and manage common conditions that make your trees weak and vulnerable to tree-killing bark beetles\, root rots\, defoliators\, and other pests.\n• Learn how to examine tree density\, recognize if your forest is “overstocked” and how to thin and prune trees so they are healthy\, productive\, and safe from fire.\n• Get ideas for improving and protecting wildlife habitat in your woods.\n• Acquire hands-on experience measuring trees. You keep the instruments for monitoring growth and changes.\n• Learn about programs that will help you improve forest health\, reduce wildfire risk\, and save you time and money.\n• Meet foresters\, contractors\, and family forest owners! \nSee for yourself!\nVisit two sites treated to reduce fuel and improve forest health\, featuring a “masticator. \nEarly-bird registration fee is $10/person\, or $20/family by May 17\, or $20/person or $30/family after May 17\, and includes all materials\, a Cruz-All for analyzing forest health ($15 value)\, and refreshments. \nBring your own lunch!
