SUMMARY:Diabetes Prevention Program
DESCRIPTION:Washington State University Extension is offering the national Diabetes Prevention Program\, a life style change program designed to help you and others in our community lose weight and reduce your risk of Type 2 diabetes. It is effective in helping people lose a modest amount of weight and increase physical activity needed to delay diabetes.\nThe Diabetes Prevention Program is a 16-week class series\, followed by monthly meetings to help participants maintain their lifestyle changes. Three- and ten-year follow-up studies have shown those who participated continue to delay the development of diabetes. \nClasses starting Tuesday\, January 20th in Aberdeen and Wednesday\, January 21 in Elma. Each class runs one hour\, 5:30-6:30 PM. \nThis is a $380 value\, but you may be able to enroll at no cost to you if you have prediabetes. To determine your risk/eligibility\, to register for the program\, or for more information call Chris Koehler at 360-482-2934 or email:  koehler@wsu.edu . \nRequests for reasonable accommodation need to be made two weeks prior to the program. Please make all requests to WSU Extension 360-482-2934.
