SUMMARY:1st Saturday Workshop - Composting and More
DESCRIPTION:1st Saturday Workshop with the Master GardenersComposting and More\nSaturday\, June 6\, from 10:00 AM to 1;00 PM at the  WSU Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds. \nThe Master Gardeners will offer a fun\, hands-on workshop on composting. Several kinds of composting will be discussed\, including traditional and worm composting. At noon the workshop will transition to the hands-on activity — creating a composting berm or hugelkultur which uses large woody material to create a plant-able berm that mimics forest decomposition. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather/activity and bring gloves and be ready for some funConstruction of hugelkultur berm. \nThe hands-on activity will go until 1:00 PM. Please be aware that the Elma High School Graduation will be held at the fairgrounds Pavilion starting at 1:00 PM. This should not create a parking problem for workshop participants. \nAfter the workshop\, visit the PLANT CLINIC from noon to 2 PM\, at the same location\, to get your questions about plant problems\, insects and other gardening topics answered. Carol Burich and team will be there to research any questions you might have. If you do have a plant question\, please bring a sample of that plant with you\, preferably in a sealed plastic bag.

To kick it off\, induction of the first 100 members took place during the Centennial Birthday Gala at the State 4-H Forum in Ocean Shores on October 18\, 2001. This tradition continues today\, and we hope to induct many more commendable 4-H volunteers and staff into the Washington State 4-H Hall of Fame.\nAnyone who has made a significant contribution to the development of 4-H or 4-H’ers in Washington State is eligible to be nominated.
