SUMMARY:2018 Annual Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Five beautiful gardens on the south coast will open on July 14\, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the once-a-year chance to peek behind the garden gate to enjoy delightful plantings representing a variety of gardening styles\, all inventive and brilliantly colorful. The gardens this year are located in the John’s River\, Markham\, and Grayland areas.\n\nOne garden never before seen by the public demonstrates how doable it is to move a garden from Eastern Washington to Grayland\, one truckload at a time. The mature plantings belie the fact that its owners only began the recreation six years ago. A second garden\, which started in a bare field over 20 years ago\, has not been open to the public for over a dozen years. Visitors can spend hours in yet another garden–this one on the harbor—which was last open to the public in 2009. The garden demonstrates the unending enhancements a gardener can imprint upon a garden. Change notwithstanding\, if you missed it last time\, the river of blue geraniums still flows down a hillside. \nFor the second year\, the WSU Master Gardeners will stage a plant sale in Grayland\, selling plants from their personal gardens. Stop\, browse and buy as you make your way through the Grayland area. \nFive delightful gardens and a choice of any number of lunch spots will reward those who come to this tour\, sponsored\, as always\, by the WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. Proceeds support community-education projects from the Master Gardener Program. \nTickets contain a map with directions to each of the sites\, and directional signs will lead to the gardens. Start the tour where you like. Docents will be available at each to assist you. \nTickets are $12.00 and are available in Raymond at Dennis Company and Everyone’s Video & More. Grays Harbor County sales sites are: Grayland\, the Rose Cottage; Aberdeen\, Marshall’s Garden & Pet; Hoquiam\, Harbor Drug & Gifts; Montesano\, Valu Drug; Elma\, Elma Variety Store; Ocean Shores\, Galway Bay/Celtic Imports and Mermaid Cove. \nAll proceeds benefit the WSU Master Gardener educational program of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. More information about the next Garden Tour\, contact the WSU Extension Grays Harbor County office at 360-482-2934 or the WSU Extension Pacific County office at: 360-875-9331. \n \nWSU Extension programs and employment are available without discrimination. Evidence of noncompliance may be reported through your local WSU Extension office. Reasonable accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities and special needs who contact Toni Gwin\, WSU Extension\, P.O. Box 88\, South Bend\, WA 98586\, 360 875-9331; tgwin@wsu.edu at least two weeks prior to the event.
