The 4-H year runs October 1 to September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four age groups in 4-H:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Cloverbud:&nbsp; ages 5-7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Junior:&nbsp; ages 8-10<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intermediate:&nbsp; ages 11-13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior:&nbsp; ages 14 to 19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth must be at least 8 years of age on October 1 to participate hands-on with large animals, shooting sports, and specific types of food preservation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adults 18+ can apply to volunteer with us.<\/p>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion  wsu-accordion--size-small\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__95124\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">Do I Have to Have Animals or Live on a Farm?<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__95124\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n\n<p>Nope! 4-H members can explore any subject area that interests them! Project areas include, but are not limited to: Expressive Arts, Family Living, Environmental Stewardship, Plant Sciences, Animal Sciences, Engineering &amp; Technology and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each 4-H member selects at least one project. A project is what the subject the member decides to learn about, make, or raise. Members learn important public speaking and communication skills.<br>\nConsider presenting your topic at the Grays Harbor County Fair!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Record Keeping<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H members keep a written record of what they have done during the 4-H year. Keeping records helps members evaluate their learning and develop business sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Service Projects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H Clubs plan and execute community service projects. 4-H clubs often choose projects in conservation, beautification, safety, or health.&nbsp; We encourage you to find a need in our community and create a positive impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">County Contests and Fairs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Contests and fairs give 4-H members an opportunity to showcase their project and what they have learned throughout the year. The Grays Harbor County Fair&nbsp;usually takes place during the first part of August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4-H Camps and Conferences<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A variety of daytime and overnight experiences are available to choose from for both younger members and teens. Camps and conferences offer opportunities for education, leadership and personal growth. &nbsp;4-H members will have the first chance to register for our annual overnight summer camp at Panhandle Lake 4-H camp held in July!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WSU Extension programs and employment are available to all without discrimination.
