Bioswales and Plants: Green Stormwater Practices at the new Camano Administrative Building

April 20, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The new Island County Camano Administrative Building features a Bioswale to help manage stormwater runoff and filter pollutants from surface and ground water sources. Join us on Zoom to learn how Green Stormwater and Low Impact development (LID) practices use plants, soils, and microbes to treat stormwater and minimize the footprint that humans leave on the landscape. Master Gardeners will also describe some of the plants featured and how you can use them in your landscape.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Anand “Ani” Jayakaran is an Associate Professor for Washington State University Puyallup Research and Extension Center and performs extension and research related to managing stormwater in urban watersheds using low impact development (LID) and green stormwater practices.
