Whidbey Gardening Workshop

March 3

Whidbey Gardening Workshop

The day-long workshop is now in its 30th year. The event attracts an average of over 350 participants from beginners planning their first garden to experienced gardeners looking for new ideas and expert information.

Workshop attendees select from over 45 classes. Topics and speakers change to ensure there is something fresh each year. Participants will find helpful information on garden design and maintenance, growing vegetables, fruits, ornamental landscape plants and flowering perennials, and on understanding and managing the growing conditions, problems and pests of the Maritime Northwest.

The featured keynote speaker, Daniel J. Hinkley, is an internationally recognized plantsman, author, international plant collector and lecturer. He is best known for establishing Heronswood Nursery, in Kingston, Washington; and Windcliff, on the Kitsap Peninsula, and for his work collecting, propagating, and naming varieties of plants new to the nursery trade.

The Whidbey Gardening Workshop is produced and presented by the Island County Master Gardener Foundation. The Master Gardener program is an outreach and education program of Washington State University Extension.
