New Required Training<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

WSU now requires all faculty, staff, and volunteers who engage with youth to complete a mandatory training on Executive Policy 14:  Protection and Safety of Minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes all 4-H volunteers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Complete the Training:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The training for volunteers is housed at the Extension Foundation\u2019s platform for training modules<\/a>.  If you became a volunteer since 2019, you probably used this site to complete your basic training for 4-H volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long is the training?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are three parts, each about 30 minutes, so you can do it in small pieces, if that suits you better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long do I have?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All 4-H volunteers must complete the training by June 1st of 2025.  That said, at least one volunteer for every ten youth present at a 4-H event need to have taken the training, effective right away this 4-H year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will I ever have to take it again?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Currently, WSU is requiring the training annually.  We are rooting for a renewal version that is abbreviated.  Fingers crossed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How engaging are these modules?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

That depends on your learning style!  If you like lecture-style trainings, it\u2019s maybe three stars.  For those who prefer more interactive learning, hands-on, we estimate one star.  Bring snacks, beverages, notepad, whatever you need to stay focused.  If you would rate it differently, let us know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I\u2019ve been a volunteer for 50 years, do I still have to complete this training?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
