Generosity allows youth to “pledge their hands to larger service” and is one of the essential elements of 4-H. Service and generosity allow for exposure to the larger community and the world itself while giving youth an opportunity to grow and learn.

Garden and Give!
Take some time to plant a garden with different vegetables then, when everything is grown, you can donate some to local food banks. Here are some gardening resources from the WSU Master Gardeners program!

Freerice, a site created by the United Nations World Food Programme, has users answer trivia questions to generate funds from sponsors. These funds are then used to bring food to communities in need all over the world. With just an internet connection you can help to feed youth and families across the globe!
Help an Animal Shelter!
Volunteering your time benefits the animals at the Humane Society, follow this link to find out how you can be of service. Walking a dog, cat feeding and condo cleaning, and many other ways too.
Join Project Linus!
Project Linus is a program that collects community-made blankets and distributes them to children in need. There are guidelines for making the blankets. The local chapter is based in Sequim and can be contacted at 360-797-7417 to coordinate blanket drop-off.
Volunteer at Center Valley Animal Rescue!
Center Valley Animal Rescue volunteers care for over 150 animals daily. We have positions and projects for all skill sets and passions! New volunteer orientation is October 15th.
Write a Letter!
Take time to reach out to an elderly member of our community and send a letter or drawing. If you choose to include a return mailing address you may even get a letter back!
- Locally, you can send letters to Avamere Independent & Assisted Living. Their address is: 1201 Hancock St, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
- Another option is The Kenney Pen Pal program. This is run through The Kenney Continuing Care Retirement Community and connects you with a resident who would like a pen pal.
