DESCRIPTION:Free Rain Garden Training Workshop! \nIn-person on Thursday\, May 23rd from 10:00 – 12:30PM \nRegister here https://tinyurl.com/3kz3bv2k \n(Companion online course available at https://tinyurl.com/ypxd37pv) \n  \nAre you interested in working with your community to maintain one of your neighborhood’s beautiful green infrastructure solutions? \n  \nWSU Jefferson County Extension is excited to offer an in-person workshop in Port Townsend as a companion to the free online rain garden training program now available for homeowners and non-professionals offered by the Washington Stormwater Center (https://tinyurl.com/ypxd37pv). \n  \nThis in-person workshop is on Thursday\, May 23rd from 10 am – 12:30 at the Cotton Building and in the field rain gardens located in downtown Port Townsend.   The workshop includes a presentation by a local landscape designer on rain garden care and maintenance.  Following the presentation\, the class will break into teams for a hands-on activity structured to get you familiar with anatomy of a rain garden and the metrics for assessing rain garden health. \n  \n10:00 – 10:15AM: Welcome\, Water Quality Basics Review \n10:15 – 10:55 AM: Considerations ~ Soils\, Plants\, Watering\, Weeding and Deer \n10:55 – 11:00 AM: Break \n11:00 – 11: 15 AM: Assessment video \n11:15 – 12:20 PM: Rain Garden Assessments: in-field activity \n12:20 – 12:30 PM: Wrap-up \n  \nFor more information\, please contact Bridget Gregg at bridget.gregg@wsu.edu
