March Fairgrounds Cooking School <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On March 4th the Kitchen at the Fairgrounds hosted our newest group – taught by local Chef’s Arran Stark and Nick Harper. They explored all the senses in the kitchen while also learning legitimate knife skills – how to cut julienne, mirepoix and tournet with onion, tomato, peppers and garlic. They then learned how to fuse the flavors and develop their own Salsa recipe, and finally plate the creation in a visually aesthetic manner. The second class was all about putting those knife skills to work making Ratatouille. The series will culminate with a class on the 18th centered on butchering poultry. Arran and Nick hope to expand classes, stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4-H Military Teen Adventure Camps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of wonderful camp options for 4-H’ers who are family members of folks who are or have served in our military. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington State University 4-H Military Teen Adventure Camp #1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When:<\/strong> July 6\u201310, 2026 Where:<\/strong> Eastsound, Washington Number of Participants:<\/strong> 70<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join your fellow military teens in Orcas Island, Washington to make new connections and develop your skills with a week of fun and adventure!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the first session of the Washington State University 4-H Military Teen Adventure Camp, campers will experience high-adventure activities such as archery, bicycle moto crossing (BMXing), climbing, swimming, zip lining, completing ropes courses, and sea kayaking. Lodging accommodations include open-air cabins and yurts. Between adventures, campers enjoy family-style meals, campfires, and other camp traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Save the Date for Teen Conference!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

High-school aged teens (those who have completed 8th grade and up)<\/em> are encouraged to come to the Pullman Campus of Washington State University in June each year for the Washington State 4-H Teen Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some highlights include: touring the beautiful Pullman campus of WSU, staying in college dormitories, eating at WSU\u2019s dining center, and attending workshops and tours to highlight career pathways and opportunities. We will include workshops to help youth begin preparing for college applications, scholarship applications, choosing a college major, and choosing a career pathway. We will also have opportunities for leadership development, service projects, team-building activities, and fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
