{"id":9191,"date":"2015-10-21T11:30:48","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T18:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/jefferson\/?page_id=9191"},"modified":"2026-02-23T07:35:48","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T15:35:48","slug":"join-4-h","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/jefferson\/4-h\/join-4-h\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Jefferson County 4-H!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wsu-row wsu-row--sidebar-right\" >\r\n    \n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Join 4-H?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H is open to every youth, ages 5-19 &#8211; and for adults as volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four age groups* in which you can do a wide variety of projects and activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Cloverbuds: ages 5-7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Junior: ages 8-10<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intermediate: ages 11-13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior: ages 14 to less than 19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*4-H \u201cage\u201d is determined by the age of the youth by October 1st of the current 4-H year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When can I join 4-H?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4-H year begins October 1st of each year so Fall is a great time to join 4-H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, depending on the club, members can usually join at any time during the year. To be able to participate in the Jefferson County Fair as a 4-H member, youth must be enrolled in a club and projects by June 1st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some projects have earlier deadlines for participation; check with your club leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does it cost?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a $25\/youth annual fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a once-per-year fee that allows youth to participate in as many 4-H projects as they choose (fees to participate in special-interest programs such as Know Your Government and Teen Rally vary with the program).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial assistance <\/strong>is <strong>available upon request<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>no<\/strong> youth\u00a0will be denied access to 4-H programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ready to get started?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each club is lead by a volunteer(s) who will be your mentor for local programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t know what club you want to join? Your Leader will share when the club\/program meets.
