Youth will also learn about sheep products and by-products.&nbsp; Youth will practice presenting oral reasons, determine yield grades, compare digestive systems, explore a feed tag, practice management practices, and deliver a lamb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note there are age restrictions on this project area:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth must be 8 by October 1st of the current 4-H year to be eligible for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive situations, such as livestock shows or sales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enrollment in large animal projects, including Beef, Dairy, Goat, Horse, Sheep, Alpaca\/Llama, and Swine<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollment in shooting sports projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollment in projects using motorized vehicles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollment in food preservation projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cloverbuds, 4-H youth ages 5-7, may participate in a number of age-appropriate activities, though they may not participate in competitive events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have questions about eligibility please, contact your county 4-H coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Select, feed, and house a market lamb<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select, care for, fit, show, breed, and market sheep<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fit and show a lamb<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate a carcass<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Control insects and parasites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Market wool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.wp.wsu.edu\/uploads\/sites\/2083\/2023\/12\/sheep-1822137_1280.jpg\" alt=\"A sheep looks down at the viewer as though the viewer is laying on the ground\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4-H Sheep Curriculum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Available from the Extension office or online<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shop4-h.org\/collections\/sheep-curriculum-collection\/products\/sheep-curriculum-1-rams-lambs-you\">Level 1:&nbsp; Rams, Lambs, &amp; You<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Sheep 1, youth will learn how to select a project lamb, properly care for the animal, and prepare the animal for show.
