King County 4-H Association Minutes from Kick-Off Meeting on 10\/2\/2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members Present: Alyssa Bowers, Nancy Baskett, Aspen Dobbins, CJ Clark, Katie Clark, Sue Adams, Genie Charvet, Mackenzie Kinsman, Kelly Nascimento, Pera Cummins, Heidi McKibbin-Cooper, Veronica Fry, Rossi Ensign, Tasha Bradley, Leslie Lucero, Anita Mastin, Caroline Vadino, Floy Ziegler, Jim Olson, Michele Pilon, Susan Campbell-Hehr, Leanna Suhoversnik, Jolene Arnold, Deb Chickadel, Kandi Dodrill<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meeting was called to order by Caroline Vadino, President at 6:52 pm. The first order of business was elections and the following slate was put forth: Sue Adams, President, Deb Chickadel, Vice President, Paige Anderson, Secretary. Floy Ziegler was appointed as Treasurer. A motion was made by Kandi Dodrill and seconded by Michele Pilon to accept the slate of officers as presented. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Treasurers Report by Floy Ziegler. Please see the financial report ending in September 2025. The association has about $17,000 in reserves and $23,000 in the bank. The balance of the money is project dollars and pass through money for the Extension Office. The Budget for the 2025-2026 year is presented to be the same budget as the 2024-2025 year. Motion to approve the Budget as presented was made by Deb Chickadel and seconded by Sue Adams. Motion Carried unanimously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Secretary\u2019s Report. Alyssa passed out a copy of the previous minutes and Kandi moved to accept the minutes as written. Jim Seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alyssa & Nancy presented slides about the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 FAQ\u2019s for online registration and project questions<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Community Service vs. Community Learning – WSU has grants for community service<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Civil Rights & Accessibility. According to new state and federal laws that will being in April of 2026, all communication must be accessible. Volunteers and clubs must adhere to non-discrimination policies. All flyers must include the anti-discrimination statement. If you need assistance on this, Aspen in the office can help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 If a club member in your club needs accommodations it is best to fill out information and run that through the office. Accommodations can be made but the office needs time to prepare, especially if the requested services require a cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 Incident Reports are online and on paper. Please notify the office if you have an incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 The office has the following programs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gun Safes (only 35 total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pressure Canning Testing \u2013 there are several people who are trained. You must bring in your personal machine to get it tested. Once a year is what is suggested by the manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 There are all kinds of supplies available for the clubs to use. Please check if the office has it and save club money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 There are project kits available for clubs to utilize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00b7 More judges are needed for short term and long term projects on both the state and county level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aspen will be handling all the social media. King County 4-H has a website, facebook page, and Instagram page. National 4-H week is 10\/5-10\/11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Please check for photo releases from parents to make sure you aren\u2019t taking pictures of kids to put online if their parents have not agreed. Always ask the parents because kids are not the most reliable for accurate information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t forget about the Volunteer Pay Program at some companies and the matching gifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yearly Recognition Pins were awarded to volunteers at 1 year, 5 years, 10 years and 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
