{"id":6287,"date":"2026-06-22T14:16:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T21:16:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/king\/?page_id=6287"},"modified":"2026-06-22T14:17:55","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T21:17:55","slug":"6287-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/king\/6287-2","title":{"rendered":"May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Meeting Called to Order at : 7:03pm, May 14, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendance: Nancy, Sue Adams (TLOT), Anita, Floy (Royal Sewers), Jim (Family Living Project), Veronica (South King 4-H), Heidi (Seattle City Slickers), Melynda (Mounted Magic), Caroline (Cats), Susan (Clover Leaf), Sophia (4-H Scholarship Recipient), Shannon Seldal (Auburn Valley Tailwagers), Teagan (4-H Scholarship Recipient),&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minutes from last meeting sent out in email- any discussion\/ changes needed?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary report<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treasurer report Floy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Some money come in Pressure Canner Gauge $10&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teen Money came in&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Judges Training Registration Money came in, we have covered the cost of the building $125.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fred Meyer Rewards -&gt; Goes quarterly to the Association\n<ul>\n<li>please make sure if you haven\u2019t already signed up please make sure to go in and do that<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff report (both Aspen and Alyssa are at a conference- Nancy??)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Money From Tractor Supply goes to Leadership -&gt; camps, teen conferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coastal -&gt; There is a list, cant use it for travel, Nancy would have to go back and see what was there&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Fair Still Life it is extended to July 3rd so that kids can have time to\n<ul>\n<li>June 1st is when the animals,&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teen Conference let Nancy know\n<ul>\n<li>Located at WSU Date: June 22-25, 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Location: WSU Pullman Campus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ages: High School students who have completed 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade through 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration \u2013 open May 8th \u2013 31st<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost to Attend:\n<ul>\n<li>Youth $295<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers \u2013 no cost<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-H Conference Youth Facilitator $195<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teens can apply for a Grant or Scholarships&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need Chaperone and Transportation -&gt; Youth stay in dorms&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Old business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-scholarship committee met and awarded scholarships<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Split the funds for each recipient to receive $600&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sophia -&gt; Whitworth University, we will mail the check to her,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nikolia -&gt; Robotics 4-H Skunkworks -&gt; going to Oregon State for Mechanical Engineering -&gt; Seattle Christian Schools -&gt; Susan will follow up&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teagan -&gt; Tahoma High School -&gt; Colorado State University -&gt; Biology Degree -&gt; Melynda will take the check -&gt; also did the State 4H Scholarship&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scholarship Applicants we would like for them to send Picture&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feedback\n<ul>\n<li>Similar to other scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Questions and Application were very straightforward&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>-Following up regarding outstanding checks-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>5 Clubs who did not cash checks and they have not cashed $1,072.50 from cookshack from last Summer. The deadline was April 15th to cash the checks and they still have not been signed.\n<ul>\n<li>The money will go into Fair Support&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign-Up Genius are you donating it to a club, future expenses,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>90 days to cash it out&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Agriventure event at the Expo Center. Staffing a booth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Melynda and her two older kids will be working 4-H at dinner, sell raffle tickets, 4:45pm on Tuesday (Pulled Pork &amp; Homemade Macaroni)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the day they have enough volunteers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All of the money raised goes to the Premium Points to the Fair&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By-laws- tabled to summer but to be finished before start of new 4-H year 2026-2027<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>We will be doing these in August&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notification 10 days prior to October meeting&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will be doing the voting at the kickoff Meeting&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need to get a committee set&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Grants and fundraising<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>This is tabled for right now Susan will continue working on it&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cook shack update? Fridge progress? Was there a decision regarding the hotdog roller\/cooker (to separate them from the grill)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim- progress on tool sharpening event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>15 solicitation letters have been sent out&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rent a Center $20 a week to rent a few fridges during fair&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the Cook Shack\u2019s longevity going to be viable with Floy, Jim, and Anita have been pretty much solely running it&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do we want to spend $2k on a fridge if we are not going to be running&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renee has asked for them to do more events but that is not the job of Volunteers as we are Youth Development&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If we have more kids to do Entrepreneurship than this might be something that they can do&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign-Up Genius is going to be coming up&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lets go ahead and table the hot dog roller&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tool Sharpening Jim was unable to get a location and not really much feedback&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>House &amp; Hazel do good Wednesdays<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Has not heard from them so we will go ahead and table that&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They were hoping to have kids come and do&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terrarium making event for 4-H members (ticketed event) so they can enter them at fair. (I have not had any additional info about this so table for next year).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall 4-H event to promote clubs end of September (after state fair)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Clubs come and set-up booths , tabling event&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the Fairgrounds&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potentially make it free or super cheap at the Expo Center.
