About the Weekly Virtual Challenges

Each week we will be posting a virtual challenge for our 4-H youth to participate in. In this time of social distancing we are making sure that all challenges can be completed with items that can be found around your house or programs on your computer.

Some of these challenges will be getting you ready for possible fair entries and others will be for fun.

Weekly prizes will be $10 gift certificates for local shops. Grand prize will be a $100 gift certificate!

How to enter submissions:

  1. Email entries to kitsap.county4h@wsu.edu Subject: Challenge # and youth’s first and last name (example: Subject: Challenge 1, Lis Nilsson)

    Or

  2. Share on our Kitsap Community 4-H Facebook Page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Kitsap4HCommunity/. Each Challenge will have a corresponding Facebook post.

Rules:

  • All participants must be active or pending 4-H members.
  • 1 entry per person, per challenge, unless otherwise stated in the challenge specifics.
  • You may only win one time per drawing.
  • Each person who enters will have their name put into a drawing for a challenge prize.
  • All participants names will be entered for a grand prize at the end of all challenges.
  • All entries must be entered by the challenge due date.

We have had some amazing entries throughout our Virtual Challenges! We have been super impressed with the creativity and hard work from many of our 4-H youth!

This week is our last virtual challenge! Your challenge is to take a photo or video of your project! We want to see what 4-H projects you are in, and what you do in that project. Submit up to 5 different pictures or videos from the different projects you are in or of different things about your project to earn more entries into the Friday Drawing! 1 Entry into the drawing for each photo or video you submit! We would love to see videos from all of you! Be sure to say your name and what club you are in during your video (think about how you introduce yourself for a Public Presentation).

Post your photo or video on the Facebook Group or email them to Kitsap.county4h@wsu.edu for 1 entry per submission into the weekly prize drawing!

Entries due by: Friday, June 5, 2020 at 1:00pm

Challenge 9: Create With Nature

Let’s get back outdoors… even if it is raining!  Go for a walk or hike and see what cook leaves, rocks, twigs, etc you can find and create something!  Check out this cool idea for creating birds with things from nature.

Challenge 8: Build a Tent or Fort

We have had some fun challenges that took us outdoors, but due to predicted rain the challenge this week is to build an awesome tent or fort for an indoor camp! Get creative and use blankets, pillows, boxes… or if you have room set up a real tent!  Snap a picture of your indoor camping tent or fort and email it or post it to our Facebook Group!

Challenge 7: Visual Arts

The challenge this week is to create a visual art piece. Get creative and use what ever mediums you have on hand to paint, draw, color, sculpt, or print an art piece! Express yourself through art!!

Challenge 5: Educational Displays

Educational Displays

This week you will have the opportunity to enter 5 posters for 5 entries into the Friday drawing!

Practice making a 4-H Educational Display that you can enter into the Kitsap County Fair!

Submit a photo of an Educational Display from each category to earn up to 5 entries in the Friday drawing. (lots taken from the 2019 Exhibitor Guide)

  • Display representing any one of your projects (Lot 1-56)
  • Display representing Promotion of 4-H Camp (Lot 57)
  • Display representing Promotion of 4-H ** (Lot 58)
  • Display representing Promotion of Animal Farm (Lot 59)
  • Display representing E. Coli Education * (Lot 60)
For an entry into the drawing, a photo of your original work must be posted on the Kitsap 4-H Community Facebook group under Challenge 5 or emailed to Kitsap.county4h@wsu.edu with your first and last name by 1:00pm on Friday, May 1. We understand that you may not have poster board at home and will accept a draft poster design on copy paper. We will draw 5 names on Friday! Create a poster for each category and get your name in the drawing for each category!

* Lot 60 E. coli O157:H7 Prevention Education Anyone enrolled in any Animal Science, Food Science, or Plant Science projects may submit one poster to educate the public about the prevention of E. coli 0157:H7. Information about E. coli O157:H7 may be obtained online from a Google search of E. coli, from the CDC, or from the County 4-H web page. Educational Displays in Lot 60 MUST contain the specific strain listed as “E. coli 0157:H7”. Failure to include entire specific strain of E. coli will result in automatic drop of one ribbon placing at the Kitsap County Fair.

Challenge 4: Earth Day

Earth Day

Wednesday is Earth Day!  This week’s challenge is honor our earth.  What will you do to make a difference and make our planet a better place to live today and everyday?

Email or post a picture and show us how you are honoring our earth.  Everyone who submits a photo by Wednesday at 1:00pm will be entered into the Earth Day drawing on Wednesday, April 22 at 2:22pm.  Complete another task for Earth Day and submit a photo by Friday at 1:00pm and your name will be in the drawing again for the regular drawing on Facebook at 4:00pm.

Entries due by: Friday, April 24, 2020 at 1:00pm

Earth Day Twist… We will have a prize drawing on Facebook on Wednesday, April 22 at 2:22pm from everyone that has submitted a photo by 1:00pm on Wednesday.
Regular Prize Drawing will be on Facebook at 4:00pm on Friday, 4/24

Challenge 3: Community Service

April is 4-H National Service Month! This week’s challenge is to promote generosity and do something that serves your club, community, country or world from your home. There are great ideas for serving while at home on this page.

Email or post a picture with a description showing how you are serving others to be entered into this weeks challenge drawing!

Get creative with paper towel, wrapping paper, and/or toilet paper tubes! Create something using at least one paper roll tube and any other supplies you have at home.

Challenge 1: Photography

Time to pull out a camera, even the one on your phone and take some photographs.

This week you will have the opportunity to enter 5 challenges (1 per day)

Entries due by: April 3rd, 2020

  • Monday: Get creative!  Take a photo of something GREEN!
  • Tuesday: Selfie time!  Take a photo of yourself.
  • Wednesday: Take a landscape/nature photo.
  • Thursday: Take a picture in the Black and White mode on your camera/phone.
  • Friday: 4-H Pride!  Take a photo of something that represents one of your 4-H projects.
