SUMMARY:Dial Gauge Pressure Canner Testing Event
DESCRIPTION:Dial Gauge Pressure Canner Testing Event\nDate: August 15th\, 2026\nTime: 9am – 3pm\nLocation: Ace Hardware\, Port Orchard – 1692 Mile Hill Dr\, Port Orchard \nFor safe processing of low-acid foods such as meats\, poultry\, fish\, game\, and vegetables\, pressure canner dial gauges should be tested for accuracy every year\, including before the first use of a new gauge. Gauges can become inaccurate through regular use\, handling\, or being bumped\, and processing food at insufficient pressure can create a serious food-safety risk.\nBring your pressure canner lid with the dial gauge attached for testing. We will check the dial gauge for accuracy and visually inspect the lid and gasket. If the dial gauge is off by two pounds or less\, an adjustment can be made. Weighted gauges Do Not need to be tested.\n\nTesting helps ensure your canner is functioning properly so you can preserve food safely and can with confidence.\n*Gauge testing is offered at the WSU Kitsap Extension office by appointment for $10 per canner\, but through this event\, gauge testing will be free.\n
