DESCRIPTION:Workshop Series: Backyard Composting\nParticipants will learn how backyard composting works\, how it differs from other composting methods\, and how to build and maintain a system that fits their daily routines. Through guided instruction\, demonstrations\, and hands-on activities\, you’ll explore the full process—from collecting materials to building\, managing\, and using finished compost—while developing realistic expectations for composting at home. \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nIntroduction to different composting systems\nLearn to recognize stages of the decomposition process\nHow to build and manage a compost system\nComposting materials and balance\nThe key elements of composting: moisture\, airflow\, material balance\nFood waste collection and compost system placement.\nTroubleshooting tips to avoid common mistakes\nHow to finish\, sift\, and compost application\nHow compost improves soil health\, structure\, and water retention.\n\nWhy attend?\nBackyard composting is one of the most practical ways to reduce household waste while improving soil and supporting healthy plant growth.
