Check us out! 4-H has a hundred different hands-on projects to offer.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Your\u00a0<em><strong>time<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<em><strong>knowledge<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><em>heart<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0for youth could make a big difference in the quality of life in your community. Washington State University Extension will \u00a0provide you the support and training you\u2019ll need along the way. You will be a\u00a0<em><strong>valued partner<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0in helping grow kids.<\/p>\n<h2 align=\"left\">Types of Volunteers<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are different Volunteer roles in Washington State 4-H:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Certified 4-H Volunteers have completed the WSU 4-H Youth Development<br \/>\nProgram Volunteer screening process and are officially designated as<br \/>\nrepresentatives and leaders of the 4-H program. They supervise and direct<br \/>\ncounty and club 4-H programs and projects. They work under the direction of<br \/>\nWSU Extension personnel to ensure that the objectives and standards of the<br \/>\nWSU 4-H Youth Development Program are met. The roles available to Certified<br \/>\n4-H Volunteers are:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">General Club Leader: this individual is responsible for the overall<br \/>\nmanagement of each 4-H Club<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Project Leader: This individual is responsible for leading the various projects within each 4-H Club.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Activity Leader: This individual is responsible for various activities including fundraising, record keeping, community service, etc. This can be done for a club or program. The individual will be working with youth in the completion of duties.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resource Volunteer: This individual is responsible for assisting with various 4-H events and activities but has no direct supervision of, or unsupervised access to, 4-H youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Administrative Volunteer: This individual is responsible for the overall<br \/>\norganization and leadership of general program areas, organization of county-wide events, etc.<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3593\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-extension\/uploads\/sites\/2052\/2018\/10\/4-H-wordle.jpg\" alt=\"4-H Wordle\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"cpb-row  pad-bottom gutter side-right\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-row-inner\"><div class=\"cpb-column  one\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-textblock cpb-item \"><p><\/p>\n<h2>Volunteer Application Process<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All potential 4-H volunteers apply by completing\u00a0the WSU 4-H Volunteer Application Forms. Member and Leader safety and acceptance is our top priority, so all applicants must also agree to participate in a reference and background check.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/wp-extension\/uploads\/sites\/2052\/2018\/09\/Leader-AppFull.pdf\">New Volunteer Application PDF<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide Three References (please provide email addresses where possible).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Complete online training requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Complete a Background Check through Sterling Volunteers following an emailed invitation (this invitation is sent after 3 references have been received).<\/li>\n<li>Complete an interview with 4-H Staff<\/li>\n<li>Attend a New Volunteer Orientation (Virtual or In-person)<\/li>\n<li>Enroll in <a href=\"https:\/\/v2.4honline.com\/#\/user\/sign-in\">4HOnline <\/a>as an Adult Volunteer<\/li>\n<li>Receive a letter of approval from the 4-H Office<\/li>\n<li>Report your volunteer hours!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cpb-column  two\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-textblock cpb-item \"><p><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"cpb-row  pad-bottom gutter single\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-row-inner\"><div class=\"cpb-column  one\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-textblock cpb-item green-lightest-back\"><p><\/p>\n<h3>Online Volunteer Training<\/h3>\n<h4><strong><u>Online Volunteer Training \u2013 To Become an Activity Leader<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Step 1: Navigate to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/campus.extension.org\/course\/index.php?categoryid=159\">https:\/\/campus.extension.org\/course\/index.php?categoryid=159<\/a><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>This will take you to a page that contains links to three volunteer classes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WSU Put the Child First<\/li>\n<li>Washington State 4-H Financial Management (only necessary to complete if you are a 4-H Club Leader, or serving as a 4-H Treasurer)<\/li>\n<li>Washington 4-H Volunteer Orientation Modules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Step 2: Log in or create an account.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Click the \u201cLogon\u201d button at the top right portion of the page. If you already have a campus.eXtension.org account, you will be prompted to login. If not, the right-hand side of the page indicates how to establish an account. If you are creating an account, be sure to check your e-mail and confirm your account.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, you should be taken back to the screen with all the extension classes listed.<\/p>\n<p>Click on \u201c4-H &amp; Youth\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Select \u201cWashington\u201d off the list.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Step 3: Enter enrollment key.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>To access each class, you will be asked for an enrollment key. Klickitat\u2019s is as follows for each class:<\/p>\n<p>WSU Put the Child First: KLICKITAT4H<\/p>\n<p>Washington State 4-H Financial Management AND Washington 4-H Volunteer Orientation Modules: KLICKITAT<\/p>\n<h3>Face &#8211; to &#8211; Face New Volunteer Orientation<\/h3>\n<p>Every new Club or Project Leader is required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation.\u00a0 These are held throughout the year and are open to other volunteers as well.\u00a0 Other parts of the Volunteer Application Process must first be completed\u00a0 to attend. This is usually the final step!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2S5icsv\">Search our Calendar of Events for the next upcoming Orientation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Ongoing Training<\/h3>\n<p>Every month at the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/klickitat\/4h\/4-h-leaders-council\/\">Leader&#8217;s Council Meetings<\/a> a half hour training is provided by Extension Staff from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm.\u00a0 Requests for training topics are always welcome!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/volunteers.cahnrs.wsu.edu\/logon.aspx\">Reporting Volunteer Hours<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This is a required part of being a WSU Volunteer.
