Composting & Soils Workshop Series

May 20, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composters would love you to become a Superhero for the environment! They are offering the second part in their volunteer training series with a three-part workshop on Saturday, May 20 at the Salkum Timberland Library.

  • Basic Composting at 10 am will cover how to make and use compost for your yard and garden.
  • Worm Composting at 11:30 am will show how to convert your kitchen and garden food waste into nutrient-rich, black gold…also known as worm castings.
  • Know Your Soils at 12:30 pm will discuss basic soil health and help you identify your soil type and texture and show you how to evaluate your soil’s general fertility, pH, and drainage. Soil test kits will be available for $5 at the workshop (cash only).

The public can plan to attend all three workshops as their first step in becoming a Master Recycler Composter, or they can just pop in for the specific class that interests them. Because space is limited, however, organizers do ask that you pre-register to reserve your spot by calling (360) 740-1216 or emailing jason.adams@lewiscountywa.gov.
